On Friday evening, 9:00PM, June 15th, you will have a chance to observe wild bats and to listen to their echolocation calls using an ultrasonuc bat detector. Bat populations have been suffering steep declines in recent years because of the fungal disease known as White Nose Syndrome, but we are still hoping to see some bats active locally.
Come to the Jackson Park parking lot at Fairburn Street and Parkhill Road for a 9pm start. The session will last about an hour. Children accompanied by an adult are welcome to come along. For your safety you should wear sensible shoes and you may wish to bring a flashlight since it will get dark!
Leader: Paul Elliott.
