Camp Kawartha Environment Centre
What are all those little animals in the pond? First we will learn about larval dragonflies, mayflies, aquatic beetles, and zooplankton. Then we will muck around in the pond to collect these aquatic invertebrates and identify them. Nets and collection equipment will be provided, courtesy of the Camp Kawartha Environment Centre. Dress appropriately for wetness and muck (i.e., rainboots, grubby clothes). Event will be led by Jay Fitzsimmons (biologist) and Sherri DeGasparro (MSc student at Trent University who studies Ontario’s aquatic invertebrates). There is a whole world of beautiful life just under the surface of any local pond.
Please book one space per child so that we have a sense of numbers. This event is free for PFN members. Not a member yet? Junior Naturalist memberships are $10 per child per year and can be purchased at this event.
