Mergansers and Friends on Rice Lake – Members Only
2021-03-28 @ 12:00 PM – 4:00 PM
On this trip, we will look for spring migrants – primarily waterfowl – and we
will visit various access points on the north shore of Rice Lake, between Keene and Hastings. We will be looking for areas of open water near the edge of the ice in search of concentrations of Common Merganser, Common Goldeneye, Buffleheads and other returning waterfowl. Other spring migrants such as American Robins, Song Sparrow, Red-winged Blackbirds and Common Grackles could be found. Some early returning raptors such as Northern Harrier, Osprey and Turkey Vulture will be looked for. Martin Parker will be leading this spring outing.
Bring binoculars, telescope if you have one, and dress for the weather forecast for the day. Bring a packed lunch as the outing will last until the middle of the afternoon.
Contact Martin at [email protected] in order to preregister for this outing. The participation limit will be in accordance to public health requirements on the date of the outing. Details will be sent to those members who have registered.
