Early April Migrants at Presqu’ile Provincial Park

Saturday, April 4, 2020 8:00 a.m. – 4:00 p.m.

The PFN have had spring trips to Presqu’ile Provincial Park every year since 1956.  In the last decade three trips have been held annually to view the migrants which concentrate at this Important Bird Area.  This year’s spring trip will be led by Martin Parker, who initially visited Presqu’ile on a PFN outing on May 4, 1964.  He is looking forward to sharing with other members the migrants of early April.  There should be a good variety of both diving and dabbler ducks, gulls, and land birds.  Some early shorebirds may be present.   There should be a good chorus of both Spring Peepers and Chorus Frogs.

Bring change to help with gas and Park admission if car pooling, a packed lunch, drinks, binoculars, and telescope if you have one.  Wear clothes suitable for the weather forecast on the day of the outing.  Remember the winds off Lake Ontario will make temperatures cooler.  Meet in the parking lot of the Tim Horton’s in the Sobey’s/Canadian Tire Plaza at 8:00 a.m.  We plan to return to Peterborough about 4 p.m.
