Meet at the Riverdale Park and Zoo at 9:00 a.m. or 10:00 a.m.  at the Welcome Trailer at Kawartha Nordic Ski Club

Peterborough Field Naturalist members have been invited to enjoy a snowshoe walk with Kawartha Nordic Ski Club members on their snowshoe trails. Our leaders, Drew Monkman, naturalist and author and Don McLeod, expert tracker, will increase our appreciation of nature by pointing out details that often go unnoticed. We’ll look for animal signs such as tracks, see what birds are about and learn how to identify some of the trees in this beautiful landscape. KNSC has waived admission fees for members for the day. We have been advised that because of deep snow all adults must have snowshoes. If you need to rent them they are available at the Welcome Trailer on site for $10.00. We will meet at 9:00 a.m. at the zoo to arrange carpooling or if you wish, meet us at KNSC, just north of Haultain off highway 28. Dress warmly as there will be frequent stops to look at what we find. Bring change for gas if carpooling, snowshoes and poles if you have them or $10.00 for rental and as always, binoculars.
